These Toaster Oven Problems Can Usually Be Repaired

Posted on: 19 May 2023

Toaster ovens are small appliances that can be purchased relatively affordably. As such, when a toaster oven breaks, people often just dispose of it and buy a new one. But this is not always necessary. Choosing to repair your toaster oven instead will reduce the amount of waste that gets sent to a landfill. It will also save you some money in most cases. Here are some common toaster oven problems that appliance repair companies can usually fix for you.

The door doesn't stay closed.

Does the door on your toaster oven keep flopping open? Maybe you've been using a spoon or some other utensil to hold it closed. This problem is not that tough for an appliance repair person to fix. Usually, the hinges that hold the door up just need to be replaced or tightened. The repair person will likely remove the door, examine the existing hinges, remove them, and put some new ones into place. They may also show you some screws you can tighten in the future if your door becomes loose again.

The timer dial is not turning or engaging.

When you turn the dial to set the timer or thermostat on your toaster oven, does it fail to engage? The dial may feel loose in your hand. Or, it may turn, but then not cause the toaster oven to turn on as intended. These issues usually just mean the interior components of the dial have snapped or come unattached. An appliance repair technician can remove the faulty dial, repair or replace these mechanisms, and get your dials working well again.

The oven is not getting hot.

Maybe you can turn the dial on your toaster oven, but even when it seems to engage, the toaster oven does not get hot or really turn on. There are a few different problems that can lead to this. First, it is possible that the burner in your toaster oven has burned out. An appliance repair expert can remove and replace that burner. It is also possible that the electrical components that connect the burner to the dial have broken down. An expert can replace these parts, too.

If your toaster oven ever breaks, you have a choice to make. You could throw the toaster oven away, but you could also just reach out to an appliance repair company near you. They're capable of fixing a surprising number of problems.
